What Decides the Cost of a Phone Screen Replacement in Hyderabad?

"How much will my screen cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks after a drop. The honest answer is that it depends, and a shop that quotes one number for every phone is either guessing or leaving something out. This guide explains what actually drives the price, so you can understand a quote and compare options sensibly.

1. Your exact phone model

The single biggest factor is the model. A screen for a two-year-old budget phone and a screen for a current flagship are completely different parts, with very different costs. Even within one brand, two phones with similar names can use different displays. A "Pro" or "Ultra" model usually has a larger, higher-resolution, higher refresh-rate panel than the base model of the same year.

Newer models also tend to cost more simply because fewer replacement parts are in circulation.

Tip: find your exact model in Settings, under About phone, before you ask for a quote. It saves a lot of back and forth.

2. Display type: LCD or OLED

Phone screens broadly come in two types.

  • LCD screens use a backlight behind the panel. They are common on budget phones and some older iPhones. Replacement parts are generally less expensive.
  • OLED / AMOLED screens light each pixel individually, which gives deeper blacks and thinner phones. They are used on most mid-range and premium phones, including most recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus and Pixel phones. OLED parts cost more to make, so replacements cost more.

Curved-edge OLED screens add another step up, since the panels are more delicate and fitting takes more care. If you are not sure what your phone has, the technician can tell you at inspection. Our OLED/AMOLED display replacement page has more detail.

3. Glass only, or the whole display?

People often ask whether "just the glass" can be changed. On most modern phones, the cover glass, touch layer and display are bonded into one unit, so a cracked screen is replaced as a complete display assembly. This is why a crack that looks small can still mean a full display replacement.

4. Part grade

For many models you can choose between grades of replacement part. At Refits these are called A-grade and standard.

  • A-grade is the higher quality option, usually closer in brightness, colour and touch feel.
  • Standard costs less and is a reasonable choice for an older phone, a backup phone, or a tight budget.

We explain the trade-offs in detail in A-grade vs standard phone screens. The key point for cost: the same phone can have two quite different quotes depending on the grade you pick, so always check which grade a quote is for.

5. Visit charge for doorstep repair

When a technician comes to your home or office, there is usually a visit charge. At Refits, a small visit charge applies, and it is adjusted against the bill if you go ahead with the repair. So if you approve the quote, you are not paying it on top.

6. Other damage found at inspection

A fall can damage more than the screen. Sometimes the frame is bent, which makes a new screen hard to seat properly, or a camera or button was also knocked. A good technician will point these out and price them separately so you can decide. You should never find extra work on the bill that you did not approve.

Why you will not see one fixed price

Because of all of the above, Refits does not publish fixed prices. The technician inspects your phone in front of you, confirms the model and damage, and gives you a final price for the part grade you choose before any work starts. If you are happy, the repair is done on the spot, and you test the phone before paying. Most screen replacements take about 30 minutes after the quote is approved.

How to compare quotes fairly

  • Check that each quote is for the same model and the same type of part.
  • Ask what warranty is included and what it covers. Refits gives a 90-day warranty on the same issue; physical or liquid damage after repair is not covered.
  • Ask whether there is a visit or inspection charge and whether it is adjusted.
  • Be cautious of any part described in words you cannot verify.

Is it worth replacing?

For most phones in daily use, a screen replacement is far cheaper than buying a new phone. For a very old phone with a weak battery as well, it may be worth comparing the combined cost against an upgrade. If you go ahead, you might replace the battery at the same visit; see battery replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Can you tell me the price over WhatsApp?

We can give you a sense of the options for your model, but the final price is confirmed after the technician inspects the phone, before any work.

Why does an OLED screen cost more than LCD?

OLED panels are more complex to manufacture, and they are used on more premium phones, so the replacement part costs more.

Do I pay the visit charge if I decide not to repair?

The visit charge applies for the visit. If you go ahead, it is adjusted against the bill.

Which payment methods are accepted?

UPI, cards, net banking and cash.
