Signs your phone camera needs repair

When it might be something else
Before assuming a broken camera, try a few simple things. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth; fingerprints cause a surprising amount of blur. Remove the case, since some cases cover part of the lens or block the flash. Close and reopen the camera app, and restart the phone. If a third-party camera app works but the built-in one does not, it may be a software issue, which is outside what we repair.
If the blur came from a crack in the lens cover rather than the camera module, only the cover glass may need replacing, which is usually simpler.
How the doorstep camera repair works
A trained, background-checked technician visits your home or office and tests every lens in front of you to find which one is at fault. They tell you whether the lens cover, the camera module or something else needs replacing, and give you a price. Nothing is opened until you approve.
For a rear camera, the phone is opened and the faulty module is swapped. For a front camera, the module usually sits under the screen, so the display has to be lifted carefully. A cracked lens cover can often be removed and replaced from the outside. Afterwards, you test photos, video, focus, zoom and Face ID or the selfie camera before paying.
Part options and what affects the price
Camera modules are available in A-grade and standard quality; you choose. The price depends on your model, which lens has failed (main, wide, zoom or front), whether it is a full module or only the cover glass, and the grade. Phones with several rear lenses sometimes use one combined module. The technician confirms the final price after inspection. A small visit charge is adjusted against the bill if you go ahead.
How long it takes
It depends on the model and which camera is being replaced. The technician will confirm the time at inspection.
Warranty
Camera repairs are covered by the 90-day Refits warranty on the same issue. If the same fault returns within 90 days, we fix it again. Physical or liquid damage after the repair is not covered.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my camera make a buzzing or clicking sound?
That is usually the optical image stabiliser inside the module, damaged by a drop or strong vibration. It typically needs a new camera module.
Will Face ID still work after a front camera repair?
On iPhone, Face ID uses separate sensors near the front camera. Face ID problems need a careful inspection, and the technician will tell you honestly what can be done before you approve anything.
Can you replace only the lens glass?
On many phones, yes. If the module itself is fine, replacing only the cover glass is often enough.
My flash does not work. Is that a camera repair?
The flash is a separate part on most phones. Mention it when you book and the technician will check it.
Will repair change my photo quality?
An A-grade module gives better sharpness and colour; a standard module costs less. The technician will explain the difference for your model.
