Signs the fault may be on the motherboard
The motherboard (or logic board) carries the processor, memory and power circuits. Board faults usually look like this:
- The phone is completely dead and does not respond to charging, even with a known-good battery
- It restarts on its own repeatedly, or stays stuck on the logo after a drop
- No network, no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, or "No Service" that does not fix with a new SIM
- The phone gets very hot near one spot, even when switched off or idle
- The screen, charging or audio does not work even after the matching part has been replaced
When it is probably something else
Most "dead" phones are not motherboard faults. A deeply drained battery, a damaged charging port, a faulty cable or a loose display connector can all look like a dead board. That is why the technician always tests the simpler parts first: battery, charging and display. If one of those is the problem, it is a much simpler repair, such as battery replacement or charging port repair.
A boot loop or freezing after an update is usually software, which we do not handle. We also do not offer data recovery or liquid damage repair.
How motherboard repair works with Refits
Refits does component-level repair where possible. Instead of replacing the whole board, the technician traces the fault to a specific component, such as a charging chip or a damaged board connector, and repairs or replaces that part.
A trained, background-checked technician visits your home or office and runs through the diagnosis in front of you. Then one of three things happens:
- The fault is in a part that is not on the board after all, and they quote for that simpler repair
- The fault is a board component that can be repaired at your doorstep, and they quote for it
- The fault cannot be fixed at your doorstep, for example when it needs equipment that cannot be used on-site, or the damage is too extensive. The technician will tell you so honestly, and explain what your options are
Not every board repair can be done on-site. You will know where you stand before you approve any work.
What affects the price
There are no fixed prices for board work. The cost depends on your model, which component has failed, how many components are involved, and how much time the repair needs. Where a replacement part is needed, you choose between A-grade and standard quality. The technician confirms the price after diagnosis. A small visit charge applies and is adjusted against the bill if you go ahead with the repair.
How long it takes
It depends on your model and the fault. The technician confirms the time at inspection, before you decide.
Warranty
Completed board repairs carry the 90-day Refits warranty on the same issue. If the same fault returns within 90 days, we fix it again. Physical or liquid damage after the repair is not covered.

Frequently asked questions
Will my data be safe?
Component repair does not intentionally touch your storage, but with any board fault there is a risk to data. We do not offer data recovery, so back up if you still can.
Can every motherboard fault be fixed?
No. Some faults, such as a damaged processor or memory chip, are usually not practical to repair. The technician will tell you honestly.
Do I pay if the phone cannot be repaired?
You do not pay for a repair that is not carried out. The small visit charge for the inspection applies.
My phone stopped working after it got wet. Can you help?
We do not offer liquid damage repair, so we are not the right service for a water-damaged board.
